Callie got spayed before her first heat at 9 months and she went to the vet at 8am and got picked up at 5pm. I feel it is better to spay them before there first heat to cut out there risk of certain cancers. I know the thought of them getting surgery is scary but if they don't get spayed they can get an infection that can kill them within 24 hours. I would talk to your vet about your concerns. I would make sure the blood work is done before the spay and sometimes you do have to ask.
