I got our KS when she was 13 weeks and we gave her a bath the night we brought her home. I used some PetHead dog shampoo I bought at Petsmart and some matching conditioner. She did fine. Make sure you use cotton in their ears to keep them good and dry.
As for commands, I highly recommend taking a puppy kindergarten sort of class. We did this with Katie Scarlett as soon as she had finished her round of shots and was cleared to go out among other dogs. We took a class at a local dog training center, but many of the big box stores offer these now. Or you may can find a private instructor. The classes really helped us. We have since taken 2 more classes and loved them. Although we have slacked off, I need to get back on it because mine is at that age when she wants to misbehave! LOL
