My friend asked me to come over and look at her girl's dew claws and give her my opinion after seeing them. They are on her back legs. I had just assumed they were on her front legs since I didn't even know they had dew claws on their back legs. Her pup wouldn't really let me get a good look because she was really skittish with me but the one I did feel felt really loose like it was hanging there by a small amount of skin. It didn't seem like much to take it off and it seemed to me that being on the back might even make it a little worse for getting caught on something. I told her that in her case I might go ahead and remove it but she should get her vet's opinion first. Hopefully it won't be too major and she will recover pretty quickly. I agree with what everyone said about the pain. I wouldn't want to put my baby through the pain but I hope it won't be too painful since it seems like a small snip would do it.
