He's not holding it closed is he? If he is, you gotta take him in asap - bc that can mean eye damage and/or corneal abrasion (extremely painful!).

I've seen this kind of 'red ring' thing on Wylie before - and it has always required prescription ointment or drops. I still have these meds on hand, so if it were me, I'd have the luxury of using a bit of them if I had to wait for a vet appt.

BUT...when it has to do w/ the eye, I'm hesitant to recommend anything for you to use in the meantime bc you don't know what's going on, and therefore you don't know what could make it worse. What I'd do is call the vet, ask for a tech, and ask them what you could get at a drug store until the appt so that he doesn't open the skin near his eye. A warm compress might feel good, if you can keep it on.
