I think 'tapping' his nose will aggravate him more than anything. I would try 'growling' at him (imitate his real Momma), or put him in a time-out area away by himself for a few minutes when he misbehaves. When he is behaving, tell him 'Good Boy' and give him praise and treats. Also some basic obedience training may help. If these suggestions don't help at all, I would have a vet evaluate him.
