Maci is doing this, too. She's 1.5yrs and it's funny to look at the back of her head because it's a completely different color than her back. She was always a bit darker on her head, but the black is now blue silver, while her back is still very black. You can see just a tiny bit of the silver coming in on the very edges of the saddle, but not unless you look closely. I'll have to try to snap a picture.
