A small animal around active children can get fearful and that can bring on a defensive action. I would have the children sit down and offer treats with their hands wide open and the treat in the palm of the hand. That way there is no chance of little fingers getting nipped by accident. As your dog gets accustomed to the children they may want to throw a ball for her. Try to avoid any fast movements by the children until your dog realizes they are not a threat to her.
