Chloe went through a very possessive stage when she was not quite 2 years old. She was getting very aggressive with her toys, hunching over them like they were prey, going very stiff and tense, watching me out of the corner of her eye. It is CRAZY how a 5 pound dog can seem scary to 115 pound adult woman when she lets out a serious growl. I handled it by "trying" not to let her know I was nervous. I VERY firmly told her NO and made her let go of the toy using my sternest voice. We also use time out as a punishment for her, so I put her in her time out box for a few minutes. It took a few occurrences but eventually she got the picture that I was the boss and she could not treat me like that. We haven't had a problem in over a year. I still take every opportunity to rub her shoulders and neck, touch her face, etc. when we are playing. I want her to stay used to letting me be in control. -C
