Sounds like he may be shedding some hair. Yorkies don't drop hair like other dogs when they shed, it will stay in the coat until it is combed or brushed out. They also go through different stages with their coats as they mature.

Also, now that he is on meds and a special diet, his coat may change from his body getting more nutrients...
