I used to blow dry my dog when he was a puppy, but he was so unconfortable so I decided to try let him air dry naturally. I noticed that he would run to a mat, bed, or blanket and would roll & do all sorts of things to dry himself. So I saw he prefered that way.
I purchased a pretty absorbent mat just for the purpose of placing in on the floor after the bath and boom! He's a master at drying himself. I don't know if this would work when his coat gets long, but I don't want to condem him to an unpleasant hair drier.
