It does sound like it could be a problem with the back. My daughter's dog had a ruptured disk and was paralyzed in his back legs. He had to be kept in a cat crate for many weeks to keep him from moving, so that disk would not penetrate the spinal cord. He came out of the cat crate to sit with us on the couch, but otherwise, he was in the crate. It took him about 5 weeks to get better and many ups and downs along the way. I would suggest that you keep him very restricted in movement...carry him out to go potty, then carry him in to his crate. If he has something where it is pushing on his spinal cord, it's important not to let that break through or he would be paralyzed for life. My daughter's dog recovered and walks again. It's a little different walk, but he's doing great. Get well wishes to Buddy!
