LOL You are right that dogs seem to like to 'graze' kitty krispies...I've seen lots of dogs...not any of mine...do it. My Yorkies do like to hunt critter candy and kitty cookies outside, and I don't care for that, either.
To update what I said in my earlier post, when I researched it years ago, I found lots of postings, especially from 'cat breeders' saying they had lost litters of kittens when first introducing them to kitty litter from the clumping clay. While it might not affect large breed dogs, a Yorkie might be affected if this is, in fact, even possible. I say it that way because today, having started looking at it again, so far I am not seeing the same posts, which may mean nothing other than websites removed due to ISP's going out of business...like mine that went bankrupt.
I also see the situation being sort of 'debunked' even by the ASPCA who call it anecdotal evidence but also say there is no actual proof that clumping clay can cause blockages. They point to a single article by someone affiliated with holistic medicine, but I never saw that article until today. I found easily one report, anecdotal...since it is a dog owner's letter to a vet that is posted on his website, but if it was proved impossible, I wonder why a vet would post the letter:

I agree with BabyGirl Rosie...I'd err on the side of caution. I'd gate that box off, far enough from puppy's reach that he couldn't get much, if any, of that litter if it is the clumping type. I'd not want him eating litter anyway, just 'cuz, but if it is scented. you know there are chemicals too, and there's the dust he could be inhaling...which I didn't like my kitties to do either so searched for the most dustless unscented litter I could find, plus there could be micro-organisms that might not be best for baby. My pregnant friend several years ago was forbidden by her doctor to scoop her kitty litter box due to a micro-organism whose name I forget.
Again, my intent is not to strike fear, but to
warn that there
might be a danger...that it may not be just gross...
