Your babies are gorgeous. I am also a fellow MD'er. Congrats!

And believe me, when I first joined this site, I would've thought the same thing. I have learned so much about dogs since I brought Jackson home almost 4 years ago, so please do not take what I have to say as being judgmental or snobby, I am far from that! I'm actually a laid back 21 year old with a lot of experience with dogs.

Breeding for reasons such as, my child should experience the amazing birth of new life, or we want to keep the pups, etc, is not the greatest idea. I'm assuming you have no idea of any health tests performed on the parents of your pups, or even met the parents of your pups? There is no way in telling how healthy a dog is under the age of 1, or heck even 3, 4, 5... sometimes health issues do not arise until later in life due to bad breeding. Of course a young puppy is going to be seemingly healthy.

Not to mention, once your male breeds with your female, he will no longer be your "little boy". You will be dealing with marking, obsessive behaviors, etc.

I am not against breeding in any way. There are many responsible breeders out there whose lives are dedicated to the breed, and they are breeding for the betterment of their breed. If she has 4-5 pups, are you really willing to keep them all? You say you want it just for your family. That would be expensive. If not, don't count on family members who say they want a pup. Most end up backing out or changing their mind. And then you have to be sure, if selling to someone else, that they sign a contract that states the puppies must be returned to you if at any point in their life, they can no longer own them again. That way you know where your dogs pups end up and don't help contribute to the over crowding shelters. There are thousands of yorkies in rescues and pounds right now, no need to add more.

Putting your girl through birth has it's risks as well. Many well respected breeders here on YT have lost their girls in the process, or had to get an emergency c-section.

Basically just wanted to come on and say I can feel your excitement and I'm so happy for your family! I think it's great that you are willing to learn more. I can't say I did not toy with the idea of cute little Jackson puppies running around... but quickly changed my mind when I realized how much time, money and work goes into it.

Just enjoy your pups as pets. Raising two puppies at once is hard enough!
