I use "yes" all the time, but a lot of people ask that question "what if you forget the clicker?" That's not really the point of it... you use it to train the trick/command initially but you do not use it forever. The clicker is just a clearer way of marking EXACTLY what you want from the dog, as human voice is not as consistent. Once he knows the trick, we do not use the clicker anymore, and he does not get a treat after every trick either. I often have him run thru 5-10 different commands in a row before giving him the one treat. I use clicker training but Jackson does not *need* the clicker to understand what I want him to do, sometimes when shaping a new trick, it's just a bit more precise. But once that communication is established, often times the clicker is not even necessary. Jax usually knows what I want him to do, and picks up on it.
