Yeah I would think it's not the norm for such a young dog to need a dental. And those baby teeth could start causing issues so should probably come out asap.

... the baby tooth that wasn't extracted quick enough pushed the permanent tooth a bit to the side JUST to the point where it was poking him in his gums. Not to mention, his breath had started to stink with those double teeth!
I was bad at keeping up with his teeth until his dental. Had I brushed every day, or even every other, etc, he definitely wouldn't have needed a professional cleaning by 3. He mainly had build up on his canines.
