Default My Dexter hates other dogs!

My stepson's girlfriend just got a Chug puppy (A pug/chihuahua) who is 12 weeks old and about 10lbs. Shes the sweetest little thing. Playful and just adorable. Fletcher could really care less about her. He used to LOVE other dogs but now he just ignores them as much as he can... but Dexter, he just HATES other dogs. ALL dogs. Terrified of them, stays as far away as possible. He'll snap & growl when they come up to him after too many times.

This poor pup just wants to lay with them, so it gets up on the couch with me and Fletch does not mind her, pays no attention to her at all, but Dexter cannot get away fast enough... he'll take any route to get as FAR away as he can. Last night it was a straight shot up my chest (OUCH) onto my face, head and the back of the couch. It hurt sooo much, and I get mad because it's a sheer panic scramble with him when he has no reason to act that way! Hes never been hurt by another dog.

How do I get him more comfortable with other dogs? At least little ones? Hes been around dogs most of his life, just like Fletcher who has no fear of other dogs at all. I just don't get why he HATES other dogs so much. Fletch was never like that. I think my stepsons girlfriend is a little offended that my dog hates her dog, I just told her that he hates all dogs, except Fletcher, not just her dog. Its not personal. LOL

Any ideas on how to get him less hateful towards other dogs? I am just not sure what to do. He is ok after a few days when we are dog sitting another dog.... but he still stays away as much as he can but its not a panic scramble away after a couple days. Its really sad though how afraid he is.
