I agree, get samples and see which one works. My baby is on Orijen Adult mixed with Orijen Fish. Even though the Adult formula already has fish, I started adding the 6 fish formula when he had dry flaky skin. In about a week his skin went back to normal and I kept him on this combination. There are lots of premium brands out there with natural ingredients. Here's a video that talks about Orijen but I'm sure you can find something similar with the other good brands. Good luck with your search.
Also, most pet stores allow returns if your dog does not like the food. Ask for store policies. You may be able to try different foods this way. Just be careful and allow extra time for getting used to a food before writing it off. Also, never try new food cold. Always start off by mixing with old food then slowly switch.
