I, too, have a 15 year old. His eye gunk has gotten worst lately. I cleaned him up two days ago and applied some opthalmic antibiotic ointment to his eyes, and yesterday and today there is a considerable amount less gunk being produced, just a quick wipe as I'm redoing his topknot and he's been good to go.

He's in full coat, but some of the long hairs find their way into his eyes and it becomes a tangled, sticky mess overnight. These last two days have been so much better. I just ask my vet for the eye ointment for occassional use and he sells it to me. Just the plain, non-steroidal kind.
