Totally agree that it is far from ideal...
...but I'd rather see that happen than a pup euthanized or turned over to rescue.
OP, if you fund soeone to fix the leg for less than 2500 and it fails, you could still amputate later. Obviously go with a top surgeon if possible, but if not don't beat yourself up over it. You are doing more than most animal owners would even consider.
