You are going to have to get that heart if you want this to stop! I know it is hard, but it is what is best for her.
In my experience, they usually eat around day 2...sometimes 3. I have never had one go longer. They usually pick at the food the second day...takes a couple of days to eat ALL of it. They hold out with hope.
