Thank you, all of you, so much for your kind words...and prayers. It is so comforting to know that prayers are being said for little Sammy.

I just spoke with the surgeon. They are basically going to do the same procedure as last time but will attach the bladder in a different area. The last time they attached it to the side of the abdominal wall....and also the colon was attached on the other side. He explained that with the colon, they actually cut into it so that the bonding occurs...but with the bladder they cannot do that because the wall is thinner; so, they do a scraping that is meant to irritate it and hope that it will bond. Apparently that did not work....so this time they will attach it to another area....in the front of the abdominal wall (the linea alba). This area is more amenable to this procedure but they don't like to do it because if a pup needs surgery in the future and the surgeon does not know the bladder is attached there, then they can actually cut into the bladder. I assured him that anyone who might adopt Sammy will be very aware of this. He suggested that if he ever needs surgery that it really should be done at A&M since they have all of his history and will be aware of this procedure. He has spoken with his colleagues and they all agree that going back in and trying to repair the hernia is too risky. He feels very confident that this procedure will work.

He is planning on doing the surgery later today since a couple of other cases have come in that are priority. He said that if they get any emergencies up there today, then Sammy may end up being put off until tomorrow. I am so hoping they get it done today.
