At Yorkie Love Affair we do NOT breed to the Yorkie standards. We like the smaller version, between 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 pounds this fits the teacup description. Yorkshire terrier is not a separate dog breed standard or classification as there is no such breed of dog as a teacup Yorkie. Teacup or tiny is a size category made up by breeders for individuals looking for a tiny lap dog, or a dog that they can put in a purse carrier these dogs range in the two or four pound range. People all over have been using this term to help possible pet owners find the size or type of Yorkie they want easier, as there is a large number of people looking for a tiny or "teacup" Yorkie. With that being said, there are some Yorkshire Terrier Breeders that breed strictly for money. Unfortunately they produce pups that have genetic problems that they cannot afford to care for their dog properly. We have known of breeders who will post for donations in order to pay for their vet bills. Simply put in a breeders name, and see what comes up on the web~what you find may surprise you.

Our breeding program breeds for temperament, health, and quality.Too many breeders frown upon, or snub their nose when they hear the term "teacup yorkie", this is just a common way for the general public to understand size. It simply means a yorkie that was NOT breed to AKC standard. There are many of us who like the smaller size yorkie~

The difference between most show breeders of five to seven pound Yorkies and breeders of teacup Yorkies from two to four pounds is the size of the puppies. In a show litter, sometimes a puppy remains small because of genetics, or it is premature. Most breeders specializing in teacup Yorkies study the pedigree and genetics of their stock and breed for temperament, size, health and quality the same as show Yorkie breeders, the difference being at Yorkie Love Affair, we breed for a pup that will be 3-5lbs as an adult, with a cute face and free from any health or genetic issues.

Although teacup Yorkies are very tiny, most are oblivious to this. They are energetic, scared of very little, playful, intelligent, brave, loving, loyal, sweet, adventurous, and fun. They are highly affectionate with their owners but are sometimes aggressive towards other small animals and can be territorial and suspicious of strangers. Early socialization of teacup Yorkies helps prevent this when they reach adulthood. Teacup Yorkies are a wonderful lap dog, dislike being ignored, love human attention and enjoy their owners continuously holding and making a fuss of them. They are dependant and demanding so require a lot of attention.
PLEASE NOTE
This is not the means that we use to support our family! This is a hobby and we enjoy making people happy with the quality of dogs that we produce. Unlike other breeders, they use their pups as a way to make money to pay their bills. We only have 2-3 litters a year.

BIG FLAG FROM THIS SITE....RUNNNNNN!!!!
