The what ifs are always going to be there breakaway collars are safer but will also fall off.

I agree with both points. I used to exclusively use cat breakaway collars with Uni, until they started randomly falling off. What good is keepin the collar on while I"m away if they fall off all the time? This was only one breakaway collar in particular, but now I've changed my mind. Mine are old enough and trained to not mess with their collars. I prefer to have them wear them when I'm not around them (which is seldom).

However, whhen Uni was a puppy, she would sit there for hours gnawing on her tags. So for the OP, this fancy Gucci collar should only be for when you are watching her, and for special occasions or when company is over.
