When my little Kipper got his first shot from the vet, he cried and broke loose from the hold the vet had on him. The vet took him out of the room and gave him his shots without me being present. I trust my vet, so that was okay. He might have thought Kipper was only putting on a show for mommy. The last shot he got, he didn't even flinch! He never acted sick afterwards and he was given his rabies shot early (along with his distemper shot) because of the rabid bats in our area and he didn't have any trouble with that, either. You may wish to get better advice from people in your area and knowing the background of your puppy's genealogy, to make sure none of his ancestors had trouble with vaccinations. When my puppy is going through something he is worried about, he won't eat the treat, so I don't bother with it, preferring loves and hugs instead.
