Only on here and to certain people do I use the term furkid or furbaby, and then not often, it's usually to differentiate between my sons and dogs in a post. At times I don't know what to call them, there so much more than dogs, but the "furkid" term brings to my mind, a hair covered human kid. I end up referring to them as pups, or my babies, Ruby is my little girl.
