I have a yorkie that is 17 weeks old that was also just diagnosed with a liver shunt. She now weighs 1 lb 12 ozs.

I give her 1/2 cc of lactulose every 8 hours with oral syringe. The vet also had me but hills a/d dog food for her that I mix with Rebound ( this is an electrolyte drink for dogs made by Virbac- I HIGHLY recommend this!!!) and then I syringe feed her 6 cc's 3 times a day. I also syringe her 6 ccs of Rebound alone every few hours ( she does drink on her own, but I do this to ensure she is getting enough liquids). I also syringe feed her and put in a bowl PediaSure (vanilla milkshake flavor) ...about 3 cc's 2 times a day. I also steam her ground beef with broccoli ... mainly broccoli that I put in a bowl for her to eat and she does. Karo syrup is not enough for your dog ... you need to make sure she is getting dog food ... but make sure it is the prescription diet or else she will be getting too much protein. My dog almost died from her liver shunt and was very wobbly for days because of it. Please, get the hills prescription food and Rebound for your dog ... it will save her life!!
If you have any questions for me please feel free to ask as I am dealing with a similar situation.
I prayer your baby makes it!
