Aww, I love Nicky! He sure looks healthy and happy!
He may be pretty set in his ways as a 9-year-old, but I'd try conditioning him to the scissors and clippers. Start with the most non-threatening scissors you can find, and just put them near your dog. If the dog gets upset, put them a little farther away. As soon as your dog relaxes, reward with a treat.
Then slowly build on that. Move the scissors a little closer, reward. Keep pushing his limits and rewarding for success until you can touch him with the scissors and, hopefully, until you can take a snip. Any setbacks, just take a step back. If he loses interest in treats, reward with a better treat or a toy.
You can try the same technique with the clippers, slowly getting him used to the noise.
Biting is another issue altogether. I'd try to nip that in the bud too. You can try yelping if he bites and lick your wounds.
