I actually did try Stella & Chewy's (freeze dried). He ate it for 3 days! He ate it when I tore it up into tiny pieces & he ate it when I re-hydrated it with a little water. I was thrilled! I thought I'd found THE food! On the 4th day, he sniffed & walked away. I was sooo bummed.
Does Gracie still eat Stella's everyday? 3 times a day? Do you ever feed her anything else? Does she have days when she's picky?
Today was the first day of trying this technique out. He didn't eat. I knew he wouldn't. And he looks tired, sleepy & slow. I feel horrible! I don't know if he's not eating his Fromm because he really doesn't like it...or if he's just holding out for something better. We're at the point that I have no idea what he actually likes to eat. He perked up when he saw me making chicken & scalloped potatoes. He thought it was for HIM! Poor thing |
I have changed her brand of raw a few times. The Stela & Chewy's frozen raw is her favorite. I have decided just to stay with it. I do buy different kinds though and switch from Lamb to Chicken and then Duck just to keep it interesting for her. I do use the freeze dried as kind of a treat for her and sometimes mix it in the thawed frozen raw that she eats. There have been occasional days when she is not very hungry so I just put the food away and the next day she eats like a wolf again. Sometimes I will mix up some raw meat and veggies to give her. She still will not touch kibble. I guess she is some kind of dog food snob. She is certainly much better than when she was a puppy. One thing I found helped to get her to eat when she was a puppy was when the cats would try to eat her food. The cats loved all those different kinds of food I would try on her. It never worked with kibble but when I would cook for her she did not want the cats coming near the food and would at least eat a little.
