On page 2 of the gallery link for my younguns and friends, you can see a pic of an adult Blue Born female. She was blue with a wee bit of tan on her face but you had to really look close to see it. By the time she was 8 weeks, I had taken her from her breeder to place as a rescue with a friend. I wanted to watch her grow. As a matter of fact, I contacted Cher for info. A long time breeder and show person told me about her article that had been printed years ago..
The girl's name is Jillian and she is one of the blue borns who had the skin problems..She lost her coat and had no hair on her ears. I had to slather her with sunscreen even on non-sunny days. Her back also was easily sunburned so a 30-45 sunscreen was used on her.. She had a problem with having enough calcium in her body and broke easily as a baby but as far as I know, has not had that problem as adult..Her coat was sparse, wiry, short and felt like 300 grade steel wool. The fringe or tan/gold hair grew normally and has to be clipped..
BTW, her dam and sire were both well-pedigreed and from a well-known show kennel. That is not to say they were at fault and they did not produce her in her kennel.
011011's puppy was very blue at birth and he did lose his blue coat somewhat.. AND, I love him to death even though I NEVER saw him in person, but I met the most wonderful little guy (he is my penpal that I mention on here) who is holding the puppy. He is my Tiger and I am his Granma Teddy.. I digress.
I have seen one other blue born or choc-it was really hard to tell. In some light he looked choc; others he looked blue..
Cher, I look forward to reading your article with its up-dates and I thank you for your expertise...
