Laddy has the silky coat and it takes much longer to grow length. They still should be brushed a couple times a day to keep the blood circulating in their skin and keep the coat shiny and healthy. Also even though it looks short you would be amazed how much trimming even a quarter of an inch a month from it will help. It took Laddy till he was 2 to obtain a long coat. Unfortunately we had to cut him shorter this summer and are working on it again because he developed allergies and chewed his coat up badly. Below is a picture of what they can be.
