I'm so sorry to hear that. It does happen. I don't rest for days after a litter. You need to check in constantly (well, that's what I do) to see where the pups are. A mother dog can keep the little buggers alive, but will not rescue them from life threatening situations. There are so very many things to know and do in different situations that it would be almost impossible to try and convey them all at once. Please know that a pup does not produce its own body heat for 3 days. Keep the pups warm and away from any drafts. Put them back up to mamma if they stray away. It is amazing how much they can travel as soon as they are born. Again, I am so sorry that one did not survive. Please keep us updated and remember that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
