Buddy has some very dry, flaky skin where the hair is going back in from a hot spot above his tail on his lower back/flank area. The hair also feels very course. He has no visible flaky skin any place else on his body. I can't find any visible dander on the rest of his body- Not even a flake. The rest of his hair is also very soft and shiny.
Is their anything I can try topically to moisturize his skin there- Coconut oil maybe?
He is already in a number of oral supplements including Vit E and Fish oil so his actual diet is not lacking.
He could not have gotten the area sun burned because I put doggie sunscreen on the area is he going to have extended sun exposure like for a walk, hiking, playing outside, etc. He has not been swimming at all since the spot developed either.
