These are the first dresses and vest I ever made for dogs. The embroidery and embellishments were added later on.
The theme is 'Le Tour de France' (a bike race for those who don't know) and I wanted to try some heirloom and other techniques. The color combination comes from a pic I saw of the different colored bikes being raced on a road that ran through a field of sunflowers (a common crop harvested in France).
The ribbons represent the different jerseys awarded during and at the end of the race. Yellow is the leader (time-wise). Green is given to the best sprinter (point system). White with red polka dots goes to the King of the Mountains (point system). And white goes to the Best Young Rider under the age of 25 years. The winner of each stage (one stage per day) wins a little stuffed animal... a lion.
1-IMG_0957.JPG Peek's long vest. I made little tabs from the ribbon bc boys don't wear bows!
1-IMG_0959.JPG Finny's dress with bows and a flower I made.
1-IMG_0960.JPG Tink's dress with bows and a band made with puffing. I added a longer ruffle bc she's a loooong dog!
1-IMG_0961.JPG This is Sapphire's dress. The wheels on the bicycles have some beading on them.
I decided to do the embroidery as patches and made them as iron-ons, as they were made after the clothing was made and added on.
Congratulations to Bradley Wiggens of the UK, Winner of the Tour de France 2012! WooHoo!
