requested prayer for me at church. My brother emailed me today, that the other night at church, the teacher asked if they had any prayer requests. And, my precious little 9 year old nephew, who likes to come over to my house any chance he gets, cause he really likes his Uncle Darrel (and I'm crazy about him and his little sister), told her that she'd like for them to pray for his Uncle Darrel because his dog Duchess had died.
He's not really a dog person, and I didn't know that he realized how much Duchess' death had affected me! But, I thought that was so sweet! I bawled like a baby when my brother told me.
He and his little sister actually came over to spend time with me, the night after I had to put my baby down, as I told my brother that it would probably really help me, and help me to get my mind off of my baby passing away. So, they came over and we really had a good time together, and I told my brother, you just don't know how much that lifted my spirits! And, it really did.
The little girl always wanted Duchess to play fetch with her, because Duchess used to love to fetch her little stuffed toys, when she was healthy. But, she wouldn't or couldn't do it much in the past couple of months. We didn't realize how bad her health was, and little Allison was so disappointed that she really wouldn't fetch for her. But, she did like to pet Duchess, and Duchess always liked to be petted, because Duchess would sit there so calmly and just enjoy the petting.
So, she'll be excited if this little guy learns to fetch, or likes to play fetch, and will let her pet him (which the current owner says he love attention).
You know, I used to be a person of very strong faith. But, in the last 3 years I've lost a lot of my faith, due to many things that have happened. I even used to play piano a church, but don't any more. But, if this little guy, Payton, turns out to be half the dog I think he's going to be, then I think it is very possible that his owner and I got together, because of my little nephew's prayer request!
That just touched my heart so much, I had to share it.
I'm so looking forward to Sunday, and seeing my new little guy for the first time! Thank you for all those who said he was handsome, and all the well wishes and encouragement. I will be an active participant on this forum.
There are some things I've learned in the last 14 years of dog ownership, and some mistakes that I've made, that I'd like others to learn from. But, we'll get into those later.
Bottomline of this post, perhaps God does answer prayer!!! I think sometimes kids, with their child like faith get more accomplished with their faith, than we adults!
Oh, and if you're wondering, my nephew and niece have a great home life. They simply like to come to Uncle Darrel's house because we have a blast when we're together! I'm just a big kid at heart
