| I use 2 pads simultaneously - meaning I put two by stapling them together. This gives Tiger more room to "mess up". These pads are situated in my Laundry room, where there is a baby gate that serves as a barrier to the rest of the house.
He is 95% pad trained and now I am crate training him so that he can learn to hold it longer. At almost 17 weeks, he is very good at 6 hours. I will extend to 7 hours next week. He does not roam freely in the rest of my house unless I know he has just gone to the peepee pad and pee'd and pooped. Only then will I let him loose for a short while.
So far, this crate training is working very well. My only frustration is when I release him from the crate, and he relieves himself, he seemed to always be in a hurry so when he is almost done, he starts walking away from the pad while still "dripping" a little ugh! Does one have a solution for this? I'd hate to hold him . . . .and he might not "go" if I do this.
Also, I would love for someone to tell me how do I transition him to go and relieve himself outdoors. Spring is coming soon and I would like him to do it outdoors (not by himself of course as I will need to take him out). I still want to keep the peepee pad for those lazy days but I want him to do most of "it" outdoors . . . any tips on how to transition him? |
