While it is true that dogs occasionally pick up a flea here and there an infestation is not normal. Any informed breeder keeps their home and their dogs free of parasites. If the mom had worms of another variety she could very well have passed those on to the puppies also. When your puppy has recovered from this episode take a stool sample to the vet and have it checked for other types of worms. Tape worm medication is kind of hard on the puppy's body so it does take a while for the baby to recover totally.

As has already been mentioned this type of breeder tends to have no knowledge of the genetic defects that they are breeding into these litters so you really do need to have the puppy checked out by a vet that is knowledgable about the genetic weakness that have been bred into the Yorkie by people who know nothing of genetics.

I don't know about Florida law but I hope you can warn as many people as possible about this person.
