I paid $2,400 for FHO on one of my personal pups recently....she had hip dysplasia.

I have also had this surgery done on foster pups in the past...and it was somewhere around $2,000 I believe for each of them.

As for the recovery, I did not crate them and they did amazingly well. They did stay overnight for one night after the surgery.

You can find someone to do it cheaply, but be very, very careful. I know that some vets offer it for less than $1,000; but I met a lady at the specialist one day who went to a regular vet for this surgery and he cut the sciatic nerve on her pup. She was at the specialist looking for assistance...I never did hear the outcome but I imagine it was not good.
