Default Looking to Adopt Senior/Special Needs Yorkie

Hello! I am a dog lover and chihuahua foster mommy in Northern Illinois. While I have only inquired locally until now, I thought it might be worth a shot to post on here as well; as I have also adopted long-distance before (thanks to many rescue transporters, from northern Michigan to here). I have always wanted to own a yorkie, but I have been busy enough with fosters that until now I have not had time to pursue my search. Since I am adamantly against buying from a backyard breeder; and knowing how many dogs there are in need of fur-ever homes, I would like to add a yorkie into my family who is in true need of a place to retire. I am looking to adopt a spayed/neutered female or male, heartworm negative; senior, or special needs, yorkshire terrier. My own dogs are all around 5lbs themselves, so smaller is preferred just for compatibility. My own dogs are well-socialized, as they are used to fosters coming in and out. I can provide many references of my foster program and dogs I've adopted out; but want to clarify that I would be keeping the yorkie and it would not be rehomed. I just want to offer a safe, warm, and spoiled home to spend the final chapters of their life. I have had experience working 7+ for veterinary clinics and have had dogs my entire life. After inheriting a family home on a half acre, I am finally ready to welcome a yorkie in need. While I cannot take in one who is in need of emergency surgery; I am experienced with dogs who may need long-term medication, socializing, etc. as many of my rescues have been puppy mill dogs. I know that homes for seniors and special needs dogs are too few and far between, which is why if anyone who thinks they may have the dog I am meant to be with; we can attempt to arrange transport if possible. While we cannot travel far from home due to our responsibility to our own dogs; we would welcome a home visit/delivery from a representative if need be. I am already keeping an eye on PetFinder; and am searching diligently; so please no referrals to other shelters/organizations. Many do not do long-distance adoptions and not all dogs are suitable for travel, so I'm posting this in hopes to find someone who can help bring that special dog home. So if you think you may know of someone who has a dog that fits what we are looking for, direct them to my post so they are able to contact me with details. I will be happy to answer ANY questions and verify ALL information. =) Thank you!
