I own two singers and a brother. I have never had any problem with any of them that wasn't my fault. I learned to sew on a very simple singer years ago. I just got a brother embroidery machine this summer and I have had lots of fun learning to use it. Good Luck!! You will enjoy sewing....it is my stress reliever.
Plus, you can still sew with a pup on your lap...I do ALL the time.
