It is a real problem. I have always used Interceptor for heartworms (not available anymore) as it was made in a dose for dogs 2-5lbs which I like. Didn't have a flea problem until this year. I am so afraid of those spot on treatments or even the pill type. They are pushing this Trifexis which is our old heartworm meds plus a flea/ tick killer. When I looked up the chemical for the fleas they were talking about how this is used to kill bugs in your yard!! I am supposed to give this to them eat!!
I have used mostly natural flea spray in the house and in the yard and it appears to be working. (knock wood) Don't know what I will do about the heartworm med now that they are trying to force us into using the combo.
