You have to be careful even when you buy it from the butcher. It will say the country it is from. Or not it will say imported. You have to ask what country. However, a lot of seafood, fish in particular, gets mislabeled. Sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose. So unless you really know fish, or catch them yourself, you really can't be for sure.
