I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum or the advanced training forum.
I was wondering if anyone has ideas for advanced tricks that are mainly for fun? I've come up with these so far:
Up: Standing up on the hind legs briefly
Paw: While sitting, lifting one paw for me to take in my hand (like shake)
Spin: Spin around once, kind of like chasing their tail
Step: Side step in the direction indicated
Fetch: Retrieve toys that are thrown
I considered "Play Dead" but it just seemed too morbid of a concept. I considered "speak," but I don't want to encourage Mishka to become barky.
Roll-over would be good. I only have one concern--that Mishka won't be able to do the trick in her old age. Penny knows roll-over, and now that she's old she has trouble doing it. She can only roll half way and we can tell it makes her sad that she isn't doing it right. We let her do her half, help her roll the rest of the way, and then tell her what a good girl she is. She seems happier getting praise after completing the trick with our help, rather than getting praise for just doing half of the trick.
Ideas?
