OMG...I've had people ask me what kind of dog Brody is and when I tell them he's a Yorkie, they have suddenly become 'experts' on my dog and said that no, he is a Silky. I have gently corrected them, saying well, yes, there is a breed of dog called a Silky and they look much like a Yorkie, but THIS "silky coated" dog is a Yorkshire Terrier breed, or Yorkie...not a Silky Terrier breed of dog. So far, I have gotten my point across easily enough with all who've corrected me, but, really, it is them whose ignorance is showing...oops!
It's funny that Mia is silky coated, too, but she's 'golden' in color and when I tell them she's a Yorkie...she's just not able to make the blue color anymore...they accept it without question. Really odd, now that I'm thinking about it...
