I purchased an expensive eye stain cleaner that worked okay. I read the ingredients list and witch hazel is the main active ingredient. So now for my maltese girl's eye stains, I use inexpensive witch hazel purchased at walmart. You have to be very careful though, and don't get it in the eyes, as it will sting - I know from use on my own skin.
