I think YOUR battle is done!! You know who the sire is, those are the people you are dealing with now! Since your baby was bred successfully, you dont want to "steal" those babies from the sire....I am sure you have no intention of doing that! Besides, you need them in order to get that litter registered....of course AKC is not the registry!.....I own all my own breeding stock, so this is not something I have ever dealt with....and the few times I have used another breeders stud, it is with people I know very well and we have an understanding of whether a pup or a fee is paid before the breeding takes place!..... Perhaps a breeder that is knowledgable about which avenue would be best for you, will offer their professional opinion/advice on this. I would GUESS that since YOU are not a breeder or do not show, if this sire is a reputable, winning show dog, or a stud that is in demand, I am thinking you would do best to let them have pick of the litter, (since they will know best what to do with the puppy regarding showing, using in their own breeding program, etc) and you wont have to come up with a stud fee that may be quite high! I am thinking they knew the female they allowed their stud to breed with, was going to produce puppies that would be a desirable litter, so I am thinking they will want a puppy. Congratulations!
