I know that many will say you should shake the can of coins or spray with a water bottle but I have found that if you do some simple obedience training you will get a handle on the barking. Most dogs who bark like yours feel they are protecting themselves or their families or they may feel some what insecure. A dog that has been taught to sit, stay, down and to heel is more secure in that the owner is in control. When they don't feel they have to be "in charge" all the time the defensive barking will stop. Also, when they have learned to obey other simple words they will also learn the "no bark" command.
