Just saw your thread tonight and am so sorry that your little Yorkie died and that you have absolutely no reason why. If he wasn't obviously ill and he's not middle age to old and was nothing external such as a chest wall/abdominal blow or blow to the head, it was a bleed/clot/aneurysm or heart failure of some kind, something like that probably, wasn't it? I don't know what else would occur to stop a dog's heart without any symptoms and suddenly, with no warning and so silently with no seizures - nothing.

Are you pretty certain he had no trauma? Was he observed all day and no child or angry neighbor came into the yard and kicked him in the head or gut? No fall from a high table or outside wall? No rough play?

If it were kidney/liver failure, wouldn't he have been quite ill for at least a day or two and off his feed? Had he refused food or water recently?

I would definitely contact his breeder and owners of any other dogs he was around recently.

What a heartbreaking puzzle. I'm very, very sorry you had to wake up to the loss of your little pet. If you are able to get the necropsy, please let us know the findings. R.I.P., little Buckley, gone way too soon.
