This woman lives close by a restaurant that I frequently go to, so I could not help but notice the appearance of her place. The grass was 3 foot tall the last time we were by and there was so much trash in the yard you could not get a mower in between all that stuff for someone to mow.I was told by a person who had been to her place about her keeping her dogs in the garage and apparently it is true by her own account. Maggie was bragging on Facebook about breeding Miley 3.2oz. I was horrified when I saw this and tried to talk her out of breeding such small dogs by emails. She promised me that if the vet told her this dog was too small to breed that she would sell her to me. I have no need for another dog right now but was willing to buy this dog to save it from her risking it's life for her to make money from. I even offered her $500.00 over whatever she paid for it, not knowing that amount. She visited the vet and told me to call him, he was expecting my call and I was told by the vet that she only asked if it was medically safe for the dog to have a c-section and he replied yes however she did not ask him if he would breed a dog this size and what he thought about the breeding of dogs this size and this particular dogs risk. He told me that dogs this size have more problems with genetics, liver shunts, dental issues, reactions to anesthesia and broken bones etc. He told me that he go's along with her because he feels that at least she will bring the dogs to him and they will get medical care. He promised me that day he would call Maggie on the phone to clarify his position on her breeding program and his position on the breeding of these small dogs. Now I see on her website that within the last 24 hours she has changed the weights on some of her females and is now listing them as belonging to someone else. I am not out to bash anyone however I feel it is wrong to breed dogs this small knowing they are at higher risk to make a few $$. The pups are more likely to have problems and the new owners will pay for this. It is sad that she and her husband suffer health issues but raising tiny dogs to pay your bills is not a good ideal. |
