I think adopting is great and I am all for it but one thing that needs to be kept in mine is some shelter dogs can have problems that might require you to hire a trainer to help with or some might have some health issues. Shelters are very full of unwanted dogs and I personally think I will go with a rescue the next dog I get. My mom rescued a yorkie and he had some problems that we have worked on and he is just the best most loving little guy and he has such a personality. Rescues seem to have such a loyalty and love towards the people who rescue them like they are showing how thankful they are. My first dog/best friend when I was around 8 until 15 was a lab mix and she was rescued from people who kept her chained to a tree all the time and never gave her water or food. She was hyper at first but then mellowed out some and would follow me every where and was the just an amazing dog.
