My brother has a golden retriever, Coco, that is bff's with Louie. His other dog, a golden/lab mix named Bullwinkle recently passed away so he adopted a rescue lab/sight hound mix and come to find out he sent me an email not to bring Louie over because his new rescue has giardia. I'm not worried about any exposure for Louie because he hasn't even been introduced to this new pup. However, my question is when is it okay to bring Louie over and what precautions should I take? Does this disease lie "dormant" so to say? I don't know much about it so thanks in advance for the advice! Louie is going to be sad that he can't see his girlfriend Coco for awhile but I'm definitely erring on the side of caution.
